Microsemi's broad Power over Ethernet (PoE) product line includes PoE PD ICs, PoE PSE ICs, midspans, and test equipment. The PD chip product line includes PD chips with and without integrated PWM controllers, which can be used as a compact way to convert PoE input power to one or more output voltages in a powered device. When an external isolated controller is employed, the customer can benefit from a lower cost implementation using a non-synchronous flyback controller like the IPS18I. The PD70xxx family offers a range of interface controllers for emerging PoE+ and PoH (Power over HDBaseT) applications. The front-end PD IC is compliant with IEEE802.3af, IEEE802.3at, and HDBaseT standards, and power is provided using two-pair and four-pair configurations. It meets all requirements such as detection, classification, integrated isolation switch with inrush current limiter, and overcurrent protection. Additionally, devices to perform both the PD front-end and pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller functionality are available.
